Skin Benefits Of Tea Tree Oil

Hello ladies, How many of you know about tea tree oil? Tea Tree Oil is highly known for its incredible healing properties and antimicrobial activities. I am pretty sure that many of you have seen various skin care and hair care products that contain tea tree extract. The “Body Shop” is particularly needed to be mentioned here as they have launched an entire skincare line that contains tea tree extracts as its main ingredient.

Tea tree oil

also known as melaleuca oil is an essential oil that is extracted from the leaves of the  Australian native tree,  Melaleuca alternifoliais.

The Aboriginal tribes in Australia found out the healing properties of tea tree oil a thousand years ago. They used tea tree oil to heal any wounds and to soothe skin. The natives used to boil the leaves and apply that to any burns, cuts, wounds, and skin infections.

Tea tree oil has potent antibacterial, and antifungal properties.

Terpenes, a chemical compound that is the active compound in tea tree oil, is responsible for the antibacterial and antifungal properties of tea tree oil. Scientific studies have shown that this miracle oil is effective against MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) which is a strain of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria that has developed resistance to the particular type of antibiotics.

  • Buy a face cleanser that contains tea tree oil or add a few drops to your regular cleanser.
  • You can add few drops of tea tree oil to your bath.
  • Dab a few drops of tea tree oil with a cotton swab and apply it over the affected areas (blemishes, dark spots, pimples) on the skin.
  • Make different masks by adding tea tree oil. You can add few drops of this essential oil to 1tbsp each of yogurt and honey. Apply the mask on the problematic area and then wash off after 20 minutes.


  •  NEVER ingest tea tree oil
  • Use the tea tree oil as a TOPICAL remedy only.
  • AVOID the eyes area.
